I grew up a punk kid occasionally getting in fist I grew up a punk kid occasionally getting in fist fights with neo-nazis trying desperately to normalize their ideals by fencewalking language and bad faith arguments mixed with aggressive maneuvers to intimate people into inaction. It took the entire punk community's willingness to stand up to those horrifying ideals and the people trying to force their acceptance both physically and ideologically to keep that bigoted nonsense where it belongs; out of the cultural conversation. Tomorrow, we have a choice to let apathy or absolutism determine our future or stand together and say that Fascism has no place here! I'm historically a 3rd party voter, and I continue to stand by my determination to better this country by giving us more choices. Because I live in Virginia, I'm voting for Harris because we are only recently a blue state, and the line is very thin compared to other states. If you live in a very comfortably blue state, I emplore you to vote 3rd party! You can help this nation move towards a more representative future without (in this election) accidentally swaying the popular vote towards an authoritarian government. But if you live in a state that can't afford to stand up for the nuances of your ideals without empowering a unified force of hate, then your job is to make it easier to include 3rd party candidates in the future by preventing this already disenfranchising system from getting much, much worse. If you've read this far, I'd like to add one other thought; 3rd party voters are not the enemy. They don't owe you their vote. 50% of eligible voters don't vote at all. That's who you should be focusing on. I hope this post made sense to my friends thinking about voting 3rd party this election, but ultimately, the choice is yours. Trust me, I get it, but let's give ourselves a head start on making the changes we want to see instead of putting ourselves even further away from our goals by allowing Trump to come to power.
